Years 5 and 6 had a special visitor this morning in the form of the author (and former Ecton Brook pupil) Mitch Johnson. His debut novel Kick is currently being read by all classes and follows the story of Budi, a 12 year old boy who is mad about football and works in a factory that makes football boots. He works hard and lives a life in poverty that can be very tough at times. In his talk, he discussed how child labour can often be exploited in countries such as Bangladesh, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. The story is very powerful and made us think more carefully about where the clothes that we buy come from.
